Inventory

March can be the most frustrating time of the year for avid golfers. With spring-like days with temperatures in the 50s, the golf itch is strong. Yes, golf has finally arrived we begin to think. But just then, as the headcover is coming off the new big headed driver we received for Christmas, we hear the weather man utter those nasty words. Snow in the forecast.

Believe it or not, we will be golfing on a daily basis soon. When that time arrives, make sure your equipment is in order. By taking inventory on what is in your bag now, you can assess any needs you might have for the upcoming season. If you’re like most golfers, you have clubs in the bag that didn’t see the light of day last year.

As part of my instruction program, I do a visual check of what clubs are in my students’ bag. Generally we replace low irons like the 3 and 4 with easy-to-hit hybrids. At times I will also suggest an additional wedge to fill a distance gap or use around the green.

The right mixture of irons, woods and hybrids can improve anyone’s game. Do not under estimate the importance of having the correct equipment. Take time this month to evaluate your set and be prepared to tee it up on opening day.
