Live Better

One of my favorite dead French guys, Voltaire, once said, “Nothing would be more tiresome than eating if God had not made it a pleasure as well as a necessity.” Ain’t it the truth? Food is right up there with breathing on the necessity scale, but you don’t see any TV networks called the Breathing […]

“The Outdoor Type”

I myself grew up camping and I still occasionally feel the need to venture out from under the halo of cement and glass and lights. Anymore, it’s portrayed as some exotic getaway from the bustle of city life. Just don’t mention those bedbugs and lack of amenities. Fortunately, around these parts it doesn’t bustle so hard that you have to drive too far to get away from it all.

Prime Times at the Tri-State Marker

The great territorial debate goes on. And this month’s article only makes it more difficult to choose sides. The question, of course, which side of South Dakota, East or West, provides a more stimulating environment for good times? Being the foremost expert in the field of good times, we at Prime decided to head out […]

Hudson’s Guide to the BEST OF THE LAST 25 YEARS

Obviously, I had to come up with my own version of the music list, and I must admit that personally it makes sense. 1983 was a landmark music year for me. Although I had been a huge fan of the original punk craze of the late ‘70s, by the early ‘80s I was back to music that was much more mainstream. Outside of the Clash and a couple of other acts, most of my listening time was spent with the likes of Springsteen, Dylan, Petty, and the Stones.

Kick Up Your Heels

Don’t Let Foot Pain Slow Your Summer Down
The South Dakota summer is as hot as it is short. Therefore, we try to fit in as much activity as possible before another long subzero winter creeps in. Unfortunately, sometimes that summer fun is cut short well before the snow flies. Simple foot pain could be the […]

Jeans

Everyone has their favorite pair, and everyone has lamented tossing their favorites away when they just can’t be worn in public any longer. If that has happened to you recently, fret not: these jeans can be worn any time, with anything, and your significant other will love the way you look, on or off the clock.

WHAT’S IN A NAME?

When you eat industrial food, realize that some liberties are being taken with your meal, and the sauces that come with it. Take for instance the Honey Mustard Dipping Sauce, found at most fast food joints. The ingredient list should list two items: honey and mustard.

MARRIAGE COUNSELING
A husband and wife were at a party chatting with some friends when the subject of marriage counseling came up.
“Oh, we’ll never need that. My husband and I have a great relationship,” the wife explained. “He was a communications major in college, and I majored in theater arts. He communicates really well, and I […]

Superhero Foods - Yogurt

Yogurt is more than just a delicious snack; it has great health benefits and is one of the most versatile foods available. Eating yogurt is a great way to stay healthy. It’s a rich source of protein, containing around 10 to 14 grams of protein per 8 ounces, which amounts to 15-20% of the daily protein requirement for most men. It’s an excellent source of calcium; an 8-ounce serving of most yogurts provides 30 percent of the adult RDA for calcium, and only has about 150 calories per cup.

A SMALLER, HEALTHIER YOU

Don’t overdo fruit: two a day maximum, and only the low-sugar, high-fiber variety. Apples, pears, plums and berries all are good choices. Bananas are not. For now, fruit should be eaten alone or with something light like nuts or a little cheese. Lose the fruit juice.
